Word software is . . . evil. Seriously. It is so "my way or the highway" and so difficult to use that it's downright evil. I know that's odd to say and reactionary, but still . . . .
Some people say the 'net is evil. I say it's what you do with it--use it for good stuff or bad stuff.
But Word software . . . ugh! To have used it for years and just find out that you have to hit "accept"  to keep changes when "save" won't do it, and "hit save" is what you were told, and only what you were told!!!!!

Atmosphere Lived In

Don't trust anybody. Because you can't trust anybody.
Everybody is going to jerk you over.
You can't do anything right.
You never ask enough questions.

He and I Are Like Ideology

He and I are like ideology:  he and I have no history.
Don't mention this or that or what or who we watched or thought or talked.
What was mass or substance did not mean what I thought it did, squared or not
(That itself not what anyone anywhere thought, as he has proven, tho' I only know but seek to forget).

My broken heart and I have ret-conned him out of my life

Now I must change my profile pic:  now it is inappropriate.

So . . . the governor goes on trips to get businesses to come to the state. What's wrong with investing in businesses begun by people born here? Are we not talented? He's from here too. Is it some sort of self-hatred? People born here don't have any talents to contribute? His attitude is insulting.

Under Threat

City shamed
Weapon-wagging saltines
Utter protestation of innocence
Scaring the innocent
Who just want to be left alone to do their jobs and say
"Saltines and other anti-life garden implements
(Hear that girls? Can you hear us from the city of the weapon waggers, and the hollow over east?)
Carry your terrorism to some other continent
We're just tryin' to live here."

Clarity, Please!

Ok, would it just be too nerve-strainingly difficult for whoever writes stock proxy statements to actually write in a way that general audience member investors would be able to understand without complete brain strain???
Same goes for whoever writes ballots! (But then I suspect them of making things difficult on purpose. And not a good purpose.)
Obviously there are a lot of people who need to read and heed the chapters on simplicity and clutter and business writing in William Zinsser's On Writing Well. And the info in Strunk and White's Elements of Style too. And "The Philosophy of Composition" in Richard D. Altick's The Art of Literary Research.
Clarity, please!

Why, oh why, MLA???

Ok why is the MLA having a steampunk panel? The steampunk crowd's appropriation of a
perjorative-geek-reinforces it and is wearisome just like the other anti-intellectuals are!!!
MLA is still the most efficient documentation method so hooray for them for that!!!!

Someone else who uses film!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
From what the article says, their kids like looking at the pics now but I know they'll value 'em more later, especially if they have kids!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pics are great genealogical treasures!!!!!!!!!
"While most parents rely on digital cameras to take as many photos as quickly as possible without disrupting their kids, Geoff has stuck with film, even scouring flea markets and garage sales to find the vintage cameras he favors. “I prefer the challenge of getting it right with film,” Geoff says. “With digital you take 1,000 pictures of nothing.”"

"1,000 pictures of nothing"--that's a great description!!!!!!

The only place I know of to get good film development is Bedford Camera & Video . . . the closest one to me, that I know of, is six hours away but my folks and I are generally there a couple of times a year to visit family so next time we're visiting them I'll have a few rolls of film to develop! But the wait will be worth it!!!

Too Complicated

Some things are just too complicated and most people don't care.
